I'm on holiday from work this week and plan on using the extra time I'll be at home to prepare for change. If I'm going to make a success of the Wii Fit Plus routine, I have got to get rid of the distractions in my life. And if I can't get rid of them entirely, then I need to make them less...distracting.
Today, I started with my biggest distraction. The computer. I opened my email account and looked at all the junk I had been holding on to. I tend to scan emails quickly and if anything looks interesting I keep it with the intention of reading it more closely 'later' But 'later' never comes. They just pile up taking up space and weighing on my conscience. I realized that if an email isn't important enough for me to attend to there and then, it's not important enough for me to save at all. So out they went. I unsubscribed from newsletters that I no longer cared about so I wouldn't get bogged down again. That little exercise not only took a load off my email account but also off my mind. Next I needed to address my issues with the Internet.
It's shocking how easy it is lose time surfing the 'Net. I say I'm doing research for articles and I do...for a bit. But the truth is I get distracted by 'shiny objects'. I'm setting strict time limits for myself where I do nothing but actual work. No surfing on the 'Net and NO more on-line games. That time will be devoted to work and nothing else. And, no overtime. If the work doesn't get done within the allotted time, then it will have to wait until the following day. Clearly I would need to learn to prioritise my work. This was only Step One. I would need to make more changes towards making the Wii Fit Plus part of my daily routine, but at least I've begun.
With the extra time I made for myself, I decided to try every single exercise and game the Wii Fit Plus had to offer in an effort to put together a fitness programme that I felt I could stick to. This may take awhile but at least I can get some starting stats so I can mark my progress:
Measurements:
Bust: 41 3/4" (106 cm) Height: 5'6"
Waist: 35 1/2" (90 cm) BMI: 31.96
Hips: 45 1/2" (115 cm) Weight: 14st, 3lb (199lb)
Balance Test:
Basic Balance: 26.02 Judgement: 19/20
Wii Fit Age: 28
Ouch. This does not make for pleasant reading. I've really gone downhill over the last few years. (So how did I get a Wii Age of 28?!) Well, there's no point in whining about it. What's done is done and now I have to undo it. At least now I know what I'm up against.
I'm done here till next time. In the meanwhile, I'm going to find something to munch on that isn't crisps, biscuits or chocolate. I think I saw an apple somewhere in the back of the fridge...
